For Fall 2010 and Spring 2011

A. WASHINGTON SECTIONAL AND STATE MEETS 2010-2011

(NOTE: This area has been divided up into sections - each level is explained in detail below.)

 

DRAW: All state meets will be divided into approx. equal sized age groups as explained in section C. The draw for age group order is done by the state board in May or June of the precious year. The only draw the host will be responsible is for the order of gymnasts. ( Age group order for Sectionals will be free drawn by the meet host.)

 

QUALIFYING: Levels 4-6 must qualify fall and spring to sectionals with 31.00 AA in one meet.

Results need to be sent into USAG Washington by the host club to the USAG office within 72 hours of completion of the meet.

Last qualifying weekend. Gymnasts qualifying this weekend - the coach must call in the gymnast's information into the sectional host on Monday, Nov. 15, with entry fee due Nov. 17. Late fee of $25/ gymnast will be assessed for late entries.

Entry deadline for those qualified prior to 3/12. For those qualified on 3/12-14, the coach must call must call in the gymnast's information into the sectional host on Monday, March 14, with entry fees due March 16. Late fee of $25/ gymnast will be assessed for late entries.

 

Last qualifying weekend

 

Sectionals Entry fee $45 If the spring sectional meet is held at an outside facility, the entry fee will be $55.

C. LEVELS INFORMATION

LEVEL 5

Compulsory State Championships, Qualification From Sectionals For Level 5:

Approved for The J.O. program in WA for 2010-2011.

 

Fall and Spring:

Results need to be sent into USAG Washington by the host club to the USAG office within 72 hours of completion of the meet.

 

Level 5 Awards: Achievement ribbons only for events (ALL MEETS with these levels in WA), with placement for All Around only.  USAG Medals must be used per USAG Rules and Policies, using the official medals or other medals/rosettes/trophies must be used.  At least 35% in each age group must receive an all around award.

SPECIALISTS

In Washington, the gymnast would need to declare being a specialist prior to the season, or before entering their first meet of the season. Specialists are for only levels 7-10. Qualifying to state would be an 8.0 in any sanctioned meet for that event. 8.5 in that event at State will qualify a gymnast to Regionals in that event. Specialists must pay a full entry fee for the state competition.

OPTIONAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Level 7-10:

32.00 All-Around in one meet. Meet date you received your qualifying score must be listed on your state entry form. Qualifying scores must be sent to the state director. Level 7-10 format level 9/10 on Friday, level 7 on Saturday, level 8 on Sunday. One set of team awards for each level (no level 7 small team).

 

Results need to be sent into USAG Washington by the host club to the USAG office within 72 hours of completion of the meet.

E. STATE MEETS LARGE TEAM AND SMALL TEAM

There will be team competition at level 4 Fall State.

 

Washington will award both Large Team and Small Team State Champions for levels 4 (fall only), 5 and 6 if there are at least 20 clubs entered in that level with three or more competitors. Upon receiving entries the meet host will place 50% of the teams in the large club division and 50% of the clubs in small club.

 

For level 7-10 there will be one set of team awards.

 

Five scores count for large and three scores count for small teams and when one set of team awards is given. Gymnasts scratching after the final draw does not affect the small/large status of your team.

 

This item is revised annually and is subject to change per circumstance of state meet.

F. WASHINGTON STATE COMPETITION RULES

During Competition, only the competitor, judges, meet workers and coaches are allowed in the competitive arena.

 

Two judge panels and a working meet referee are required at all Sectional Championship meets.

 

The SAC may elect to use Skill Evaluators as one of a two judge panel for Level 4 Sectional Championship meets.

 

Two judge panels with a separate meet referee for all 4 State Championship meets, Dec. 2008 through May 2009. (Unless approved by the State Director to use a working meet referee.)

 

Rated judges are required for all State Championships.

 

Judges assigned to Fall or Spring Compulsory State Championships must have also judged at least two meets at that level or judge the Level 4 and 5 Sectional Competition that season.

 

Open scoring and flashing start values is required at all optional meets, levels 7-10.

 

Due to the qualifying procedure, there will be no injury petition to State Championships for Levels 4 and 5 Fall and Level 5 Spring. Injury petitions for Spring Level 4 and 7 – 10 as outlined in USAG Rules and Policies.

 

Sectional and State Championships require a free draw by the host for athlete order. Free draw for the squad/age group order will be done by the USAG WA Board.  For State Championships the date, time and location of the draw must be made public so any professional meember can witness the draw.

 

Compulsory Sectionals and Optional State Championship information must be mailed to all clubs in the section at least three (3) weeks prior to the entry fee due date. State information will be given out at the Sectional Championship for levels 4-6. Times may be tentative. It is the responsibility of each sectional meet host to collect entry forms and fees from the athletes qualifying to state. These must be sent one day air to the state meet host of that level the Monday following your weekend meet. Sectional hosts must collect fees and leotard sizes (and forward them to the appropriate locations) for the sectional team qualifiers.

 

All coaches and judges are required to have their USAG Card at all sanctioned competitions.These should be available to the meet director upon request.

 

USAG WA recommends snack foods to be provided for the coaches hospitality at USAG State competitions. Meals for coaches are not required.

G. STATE MEET JUDGES

For 2011-2012: (Criteria to be reviewed annually) To be eligible to be a State Championship Judge or meet referee, you must have an optional rating. For compulsory state meets, you must have had your optional rating for a minimum of 3 years. For the optional state meet, you must have had your optional rating a minimum of 5 years.

To be eligible to be a Head Judge at a State competition a judge must have held a level 10 or higher rating for the previous six consecutive years prior to the State Championship.

The USAG Washington Board bases their State Championship Meet Judges selection with the following criteria in mind.
Each category shall count an equal weight toward selection.

 

1. State Professional Member Input

 

2. Judging Experiences
Years and Judging experience
Current judges rating
Current judges professional involvement data
Number of meets judged at that level (including college for optional experience)

 

3. Service
Volunteer/Service time
Involvement and contribution to Washington State Programs
Professional behavior
Availability and desire to judge the meet
Follow through on contractual agreements from previous years
Positive attitude toward USAG and USAG Washington

 

4. Classroom Experience
Attendance and participation in lecture clinics at a USAG sanctioned clinic
Attendance at one of the following: High Tech Clinic, Compulsory Critique Clinic, Super Camp

 

5. Applied Education
In Gym hours: hours signed and dated by club owner

 

6. Education
Active participation in technique clinics, in-gym clinics (2 of the following): Super Camp, High Tech Clinic, NAWGJWA Critique Meet/Clinic, USAG WA State clinic, USAG Regional or National Congress

Follow all guidelines per NAWGJ and USAG rules and polices for Championships.
